Hi. We are very excited and happy with the success of our garden. As many of the parents know, our pre-school and pre-k classes started many of our plants from seeds and then transplanted them into our raised beds. The kids have had the experience of seeing how food grows from the seed to the harvest.

We have had several days that we have been able to serve the children green beans, sugar snap peas, broccoli and salads made from our garden. We have made blueberry muffins from our blueberry bushes and are now beginning to harvest zucchini. Our tomatoes and carrots are really doing well and the squash, pumpkins and watermelon are in full bloom and the children will love them all.

When you stop by to pick up your children from the playground area, have your children show you our garden. Most of our plants are organic and it is surprising to see how much food can be grown in a smaller garden size. I know that next year I am going to plant a container garden on my patio at the apartment. Maybe our garden will be an incentive for many of us to grow our own healthy, fresh produce.
