Grandma's Place

Meet Our Center Village Teachers

Our Director

Miss Carey

Hi, I'm Carey Rausch, director at Center Village. I have been with Grandma’s Place for over 11 years, over 9 of those years as a director. The owners of Grandma’s Place, Amy, Bob and Joan, have made Grandma’s Place a second home and family for me.

Bringing professionalism and respect to the field of child development is very important to me. I have been a member of the Oregon Association of Child Care Directors since 2005, and a board member since 2009. It has been a joy to serve with OACCD to promote professionalism in the field of child development and management of child development centers. I can thank both OACCD and Amy, as an owner of Grandma’s Place for supporting and making it possible for me to go back to school, and obtain my B.S. in Human Development in spring of 2012. I am also in process of obtaining my Director Credential, a statement of my advanced training and dedication to providing quality care directing in a certified childcare center in Oregon.

Aside from work and education, my family is most important to me. I love spending time with my teenage son, Ian and my adult son, Alec. We love the outdoors and go for hikes regardless of the weather! Photography, reading, watching movies, and playing card games are also on my list of favorite things.

Our Teachers

Miss Anisa

My name is Anisa Sheikh and I have enjoyed working at Grandma's Place for 4 years. Every day I come to work happy, as I look forward to playing. laughing and watching all the kids grow.

In 1998, my large family moved to Portland, after having lived in Maryland for two years. I began babysitting for my family at a very young age, so I feel as if I've always worked with Wobblers.

I now have two amazing children of my own, Hanat and Ramila, with another blessing due in 2012! It has truly been a privilege and joy to care for my own children and all the children at grandma's place. I look forward to meeting, teaching and growing with new children every year. I cannot imagine any other job or place that would bring me so much joy.

Miss Fathia

Hi, my name is Fathia, I have worked at grandma's place in nearly every capacity since 2006. I am currently the Toddler Teacher.

I love working with your children and encouraging their independence, growth and self esteem. Since I am, by nature, a very fun loving and playful person I particularly enjoy playing with all the kids at their level. I also enjoy teaching art and sensory to the children.

I am originally from Somalia, but moved to the US in 1996. First living in Marland for two years, then moving to Portland in 1998. My husband, Abdirizaq, and I have just welcomed our first child, Amir, in December 2011. I am also currently a student at PCC and love spending time with family and friends.

Miss Rahma

My name is Rahma Sadik, and I am seventeen years old. I originally came from Kenya, where I was born and raised for two years before arriving in the United States. I have lived in Portland Oregon for the past 15 years or so, with my parents and six sisters and one brother. Being the second oldest, I had to help a lot with my little siblings, which may have started my love for children. I have enjoyed working at Grandmas Place Child Development Center since the summer of 2010.

I graduated early from high school, kicking off my career in early childhood development. I also take college classes, which ocmbined with working in daycare has been an amazing duo. It is also a blessing to have my aunts working along side me.
Maybe because Grandma's Place was my first job, or because I’ve done so much babysitting in my life I now feel I'm partically an expert with kids!

Miss Ana

Hello! My name is Ana. I have been the Toddler Teacher here at
Grandma's Place since August 2010.

I have been working with children on and off for about 12 years. I
have worked with ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Most of my
experience, however, is with special needs children, primarily
Autism Spectrum.

I love working with your children and being a part of their growth
and development on a daily basis. This is such a fun age group to
work with. They are starting to discover their independence and
autonomy and beginning to come into their own. I love
encouraging children to develop social skills and discover more
about the world around them through play. As well as working
with and supporting parents and other family members to improve
their child's development.

I am originally from Portland, Oregon, but currently reside in
Vancouver, Washington. I have a 9 year old daughter, Natalie.
We have a pet guinea pig named Cephiera. We love baking,
sewing, cooking and reading.

Miss Sam

Hi, I'm Sam Kuehl. I have been working for Grandma’s Place for over a year a year now at the Rose Quarter center with the infants and toddlers and at Columbia Knoll, but I am really excited to run a classroom of my own here at Center Village. I love working here because the environment is welcoming and we strive to work with every child on having fun while learning. I love the fact that I can put a smile on their face and a chuckle in their heart.

In my free time, I love spending quality time with my four-year-old daughter, Rae. I also like to 4x4 with my boyfriend, snowboard, and play rugby. I have a passion for photography and love take pictures when we are out in nature.

I can’t wait to get to know all of the families here at Columbia Knoll, and look forward to meeting new faces too.
